Choosing a therapist can be intimidating and overwhelming, so here is some information about what my license and credentials mean, the types of therapeutic services I offer, and payment options available for working together.
What type of licensure is Dr. Lawrimore? And what does it mean?
Dr. Lawrimore is an LICSW in Washington, DC. She is currently licensed in Washington, DC and can therapeutically treat people who live there. An LICSW is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) allows a social worker in DC to provide a full range of clinical and non-clinical social work services without supervision. To earn an LICSW license, you must have at minimum a Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program or a doctoral degree in social work. An LICSW in Washington, DC must work at least 3000 supervised client hours under the supervision of an experienced LICSW before becoming independently licensed.
What is a DSW? And why?
A DSW is a Doctor of Clinical Social Work, which is a highly specialized clinical degree. It the highest academic degree in social work and can help licensed social workers advance their expertise in specific subjects. Dr. Lawrimore further honed the knowledge she gained through years of experience with trauma by focusing on the impacts of purity culture and religious trauma in her research and eventual dissertation, “Power, Control, and Purity: A qualitative study on the messaging and impacts of purity culture among ex-evangelicals.”

Payment
- Dr. Lawrimore’s private pay fee is $150/ one hour therapy session.
- Dr. Lawrimore offers a limited number of client spaces who can pay on a sliding scale. Clients may send an email request to toni@doctorlawrimore.com applying to be able to pay from the sliding fee scale.
